What is Meta Business Verification

Meta business verification refers to the process by which Meta confirms that a business is real, legitimate, and officially registered. This verification helps Meta trust the business and can unlock certain features across Meta platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Who need to verify:

“Not all businesses need to complete the verification process”

When it comes to Meta business verification, not every business is required to verify. It depends on what you're trying to do on Meta’s platforms. Verification is required for the following reasons:

Verification Requirements

Before you begin:

  • You must have full administrative control of the business portfolio to start the verification process, this means you need to be assigned as a Business Admin in Meta Business Manager, with permission to manage business settings and submit verification documents.

  • Ensure your business is a legal entity. Your business needs to be registered with local authorities, and you’ll need an official phone number or mailing address for your business.

  • Demonstrate you’re an authorized representation of your business. You’ll need to be able to receive a verification code sent to the phone number or email address of your business.

  • When submitting your business for verification, you will be required to upload official documents to confirm your business name, address, and phone number.

  • Make sure the Business Information section in your Meta Business Manager is fully completed and accurate. The details you enter (including your legal business name, business address, phone number, email address, and website) must exactly match the information shown on your supporting documents.

Accepted document types

The primary document types that are acceptable for business verification are as follows. Make sure these documents are not expired and are issued by the relevant authorities.

  • Certificate/Articles of Incorporation
  • Business Registration or License Document
  • Government Issued Business Tax Document: This could include a Tax Certificate. Self-filed tax documents are not accepted.
  • Business Bank Statement
  • Utility Bill: A utility bill is accepted only for Business Address and Phone number. The Legal Business Name must be on the utility bill. A utility bill is not an acceptable document for Legal Business Name verification

Verification Process

Steps to Verify your Business in Meta Business Manager:

  1. Go to Security Center in Meta Business Suite.
  2. Click Start verification.
  3. Provide your business details, including the legal business name, address, phone number and website.
  4. Confirm your business details. If your business isn’t listed, select “My business isn’t listed” or “None of these match,” and upload official documents to verify your information.
  5. Select a method (email, phone, text message, WhatsApp message or domain verification) to confirm your connection.
  6. Confirm your connection, then click Done. A decision on your verification submission may take up to 14 business days. You’ll receive a notification when the review is complete. If you receive confirmation that your business is verified, then no further action is needed.

What to do if your application is rejected

Common reasons for rejection:

  • Mismatched Details: The legal business name, address, or phone number on your documentation does not exactly match what is entered in the Meta Business Manager.
  • Unsupported/Invalid Documents: Submitting expired documents, or documents without a clear legal name/address, such as partial screenshots or non-official papers.
  • Low-Quality Images: Blurry, cropped, or unreadable scans of documents.
  • Website Issues: Your website fails to load, is not secure (HTTPS), or doesn't list the same business details. Suspicion of Fraud: Providing misleading information or attempting to verify a business you do not own.

Steps to Fix and Re-submit:

  • Review the Email/Support Inbox: Meta Business Suite usually sends an email specifying why the documents were rejected.
  • Verify Information Consistency: Update your Business Manager to match your official, government-issued documents precisely.
  • Use Correct Documents: Use official documents like Business Tax Returns, Certificate of Incorporation, or Business License.
  • Re-submit High-Quality Scans: Use clear, full-page, color scans (PDF or JPEG).
  • Fix Website Data: Ensure your website displays the correct legal business name and contact information.
